M&A deals in Bulgaria at critically low levels
At the end of the second quarter of
2010 the Mergers and Acquisitions deals in Bulgaria are at critically low
levels, according to the analysis of Mergermarket. Investors however are
expecting some key transactions like a progress with the debt restructuring of
BTC and its owners. The deal volume is at its levels from 2003, which according
to the Mergermarket’s analysts, is due to the fact that the owners of the
companies are postponing the sell of the companies because of the falling
valuations and they are willing to sell only if they don’t have any other
choice. That is the reason why there are only a few smaller deals in the second
quarter after the bTV acquisition in the first quarter.
Mergermarket’s analysis
also shows that this year investors are interested
in big deals with companies with depressed actives, such as BTC due
to the debt restructuring, in contrast
to last years situation when the market was dominated by smaller
deals, for instance in the consumer and media sector.
